19th-century armorial booksplates of Robert Cory, Jr., of Yarmouth, Norfolk, and John Gunn, A.M., of Irstead, Norfolk, and modern bookplate of Pennsylvania State University Library on front paste-down; inscrption of J. D. Hooker, M.D., Dec. 8, 1963, and another hard-to-read inscription in pencil on flyleaf. Robert Cory Jr. was involved in erecting a bridge at Yarmouth, and John Gunn was a noted geologist and paleontologist. J. D. Hooker might have been Joseph Dalton Hooker, who had an M.D. but who specialized in botany. |
