Armorial bookplate of John Fenn on front paste-down of volume 1. Fenn was noted antiquary. The Cushing Library/Rare Books/Morrison Collection copy has tipped in the back of volume 4 a printed program (12 unnumbered pages) of a Commemoration of Handel, dated Wednesday, May the 26th, 1784, twenty-five years after the composer's death. The program lists the directors and performers, as well as the pieces performed. Two subscription ticket stubs are pasted in on pages 22 and 518 of volume 4, below the illustrations. The caption of the engraved portrait of Handel on page 222 indicates that this performance was held in Westminster Abbey. |
