| Item Description: | Published pseudonymously. By Estienne Tabourot. The initial letters of the 22 chapters of the first book form the sentence: Estienne Tabourot m'a fait. Leaves printed on both sides but numbered as leaves. Each part except the first has special title page and foliation. "Le quatriesme des Bigarrures ("Le qvatriesme des Bigarrves") has special title page and separate paging. No second or third part book of Bigarrures exists. The title page of "Les Touches du Seigneur des Accords" has imprint: A Rouen : Chez David Geuffroy, ruë des Cordeliers, joignant S. Pierre, M DC. XXI. [1621] The "Escraignes dijonnoises" have sometimes been attributed to a certain Sieur du Buisson, Baron de Grannas, under whose name they were published in 1588 in Paris and in 1592 in Lyon, but this attribution is incorrect according to most bibliographers, who attribute them to Tabourot; according to Francis Goyet, author of a critical edition of the "Bigarrures" (Geneva, 1986), everything suggests that André Pasquet, author of the preface to the reader, is none other than Tabourot himself. Printers' devices on title pages; head- and end-pieces; initials. "Rébus en musique" pages 20-22. |
