NOTE["PROVENANCE: "M. Le Docteur P. Dobveaux" (booklabel) and with the monogram PD on front cover. This individual was Paul Dorveaux (1851-1938) who trained as a pharmarcist but ultimately abandoned the profession in order to pursue his love of books. His great collection of books on pharmacology was given to the Ecole superieure de pharmacie in Paris, where he surved as librarian from 1884 until 1922, at which time he was forced to retire. Our bibliophile undertook a good deal of research on Rabelais (to whom Tabourot is often compared) and it is likely Dorveaux bought the present copy, and had it specially bound with his initials, in the course of this research."--Invoice 3786.]
Bound in 19th-century Italian staff vellum case binding; marbled end-papers.
