The first and last! : the 49th built the first bridge in the invasion of Europe (at Carentan), this is the last bridge before we joined the Russians (Salle River, near the Elbe, Germany) built by the 49th E.C.B. of the 1106th Engr. Combat Group (the greatest body of fighting men ever assembled).
