This book is an account of a convoy of thirty-five Allied ships which left Iceland on June 27, 1942 bound for Russia. Three weeks later eleven ships reached Russia, the rest having been sunk by the Germans. The author explores the reactions of the Allied sailors, and the reasons for the destruction.
