Volume 1 has bookplate of Charles Parr Burney on front pastedown, and autograph of Thomas Thong [?], 1741 in front matter. Volume 2 has autographs "Mar {?] Garnham, my book 1721" and, in another hand, the initials L. B. The two volumes have different calf bindings. Volume 1 is in a lighter color, with gold letters on spine and marbled edge. Volume 2 is darker in color. Volume 1 lacks plates. Volume 1 contains an extensive manuscript annotation about Jacob's close following of Langbaine's catalogue and adding dates of performances in chronological order. It cites the introduction to Biographia Dramatica, 1782, page 49. A penciled-in note in a different hand says the annotation was made by J. P. [John Philip] Kemble, a dramatist. |
