To avoid this shoal on the W side, keep Rat Island N, or N1/2W, till you are within 3 miles of it, when you may haul in for it: in coming between the Asia Shoal and buffaloe point, keep within 2 miles of the point, 'till it bears east; when you may stear for the Island.
