Letter from the Secretary of the Interior, transmitting, in response to resolution of the Senate of May 16, 1898, a letter from the President of the Maritime Canal Company of Nicaragua submitting a proposition of said corporation with reference to clearing off its debts and obligations, with a view to transfer of the stock of the company to the United States, etc., together with a sworn statement of the president of said company regarding the stocks and bonds of the company now outstanding, and setting forth the progress made in the survey and other operations toward the construction of the Nicaragua Canal.
