Letter from the Secretary of War, transmitting with a letter from the Chief of Engineers, reports on preliminary examination and survey of inland waterway from Norfolk, Va., to Beaufort Inlet, N. C., with a view to determining whether there should be any change in that part of the route from Alligator River southwardly to Neuse River from that heretofore recommended in House Document No. 391, Sixty-second Congress, second session, and heretofore adopted, and whether it would be desirable to extend the route from Alligator River to Pungo River, thence to Goose Creek, thence from the head of Goose Creek to Jones Bay, and thence to Neuse River, or whether any modification of said part of the route is desirable.
