Letter of the Secretary of War, in answer to a resolution of the Senate of December 17, 1861, in relation to the names and number of the Major Generals, and the names of the officers who are performing the duties as such; also the number of officers and soldiers to their staff, and the rent of the buildings occupied by them as offices.
