I promessi sposi /
Set in the province of Milan in the 17th century, the wedding of a betrothed coumpe is interfered with by Don Rodrigo. The young couple, advised by Father Cristoforo, take refuge in Milan. Separated, they undego tumult, plague, and rape, although justice triumphs.
