Philo Beddoe, a regular easy-going, beer-drinking truck driver and the toughest barroom brawler west of the Rockies, lives with a 165-pound orangutan named Clyde. When he finally falls in love, it's with a flighty singer who leads him on a crazy chase across the Southwest.
