State of Massachusetts-Bay : In the House of Representatives, June 5, 1780. : Whereas a requisition has been made to this Court for a reinforcement for the Continental Army, in order that it may be able to act vigirously [as printed] the ensuing campaign; and the present situation of affairs requiring the utmost exertions at this period; and affords the most flattering prospect of putting an end to this distressing war, if the army is reinforced at this juncture, and enabled to improve the great advantages now offered. Resolved, that there be three thousand nine hundred and thirty-four men raised within the several tows [sic] and plantations in this state ... agreeable to the schedule herewith annexed ...
