Description
Summary:The chapters in this book contain the professional reflections of a group of prominent therapists who have expanded their theoretical horizons and interventions. Some are known for their psychodynamic orientation, others as behavior therapists, and still others as experiential therapists. All have been seasoned by their clinical and personal experiences; this book provides the venue in which most of them will describe their professional evolution for the first time. In their reflections, the contributors narrate and illustrate their change process, addressing the following five key aspects of their evolution: Lessons originally learned, strengths of original orientation, limitations of original orientation, how change occurred, and current approach. By having contributors frame their reflections within the guidelines described, it was possible to detect thematic issues, both within and across the three therapeutic orientations. It also was possible to see how the limitations of any given approach have been complemented by the strengths of another. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved).
