The aim of the artistic research is to reflect and process the transformation processes taking place here. The Schwamendingen long-term study was supported from 2012 - 2023 by the City of Zurich's Civil Engineering Department, Art in Public Space, as part of the "Lokaltermin Schwamendingen" programme. Ruth Erdt has lived and worked in the neighbourhood for thirty years, where her children also grew up. She is well connected and has helped to initiate, organise and shape various cultural events. Her long-term photographic study documents the moments of upheaval and has grown into a comprehensive archive. It shows portraits of residents, architectural photographs of settlements, details and architectural perspectives, the changes surrounding the enclosure and the motorway section affected, agriculture, neighbourhood festivals, events and structural transformations of the last twelve years in the garden city. -- Artist's website. |
