The ordinary paper issue has headpiece on page 3 of volume 1 showing an urn on a pedestal. Signatures: volume 1: pi⁴ a-b⁴ c² B-Bbbb⁴; volume 2: [A]-Eeee⁴; volume 3: A-Iiii⁴; volume 4: A-Gggg⁴ Hhhh². Illustrations engraved by G. van der Gucht; frontispiece portrait engraved by G. Vertue after G. Kneller. Head- and tail-pieces; initials. The Cushing Library/Rare Books copy was acquired as part of the Lois Goddard Morrison Collection of Eighteenth Century Literature. Lois Morrison had bookmarked the first pages of several plays with illustrated headpieces depicting a scene or character, as well as pages 514-515 in volume 1 (Dialogues upon the usefulness of ancient medals). |
