Description
Summary:The purpose of the present book is to provide readers with a survey of new decision research that is closely integrated with research from cognitive psychology. The chapters will be of interest to both decision and cognitive scientists. Chapters 1 and 2 examine the role of memory in decision making, including discussions of the implications of parallel distributed processing models for decision making. Chapters 3 through 7 investigate the effects of stimulus context and problem content on the construction of decision strategies, including discussions of the connections between algebraic and process models of decision making. Chapters 8 through 10 analyze the relations between natural language and probabilistic inference, including discussions of fuzzy set and semantic theories of evidence. The ensemble contains exciting new empirical findings as well as revolutionary new ideas for bringing together cognitive and decision sciences.
