Description
Summary:This book is about historical change in Britain from a worldview that has been characterized as the ancient world to one that we call the medieval world. This examination proceeds on two front, among the prominent thinkers/philosophers of each era and among the regular people living their day-to-day lives. In both cases, the primary concept that drives this analysis is nature, understood throughout in three senses that move through an empirical sense of the world (particularly through medicine) to abstract ideas that connect to logic and theories of religion. The existential presentation of regular people is interpreted through contemporary Anglo-Saxon poetry, examples of which are both translated and examined by the author.
