The suburbs came to hold a broad cross-section of people - rich, poor, Black American, Latino, Asian, immigrant, the unhoused, and the lavishly housed, and everyone in between. In the new suburbia, white advantage persisted, but it existed alongside rising inequality, ethnic and racial diversity, and new family configurations. Through it all, the common denominators of suburbia remained - low-slung landscapes of single-family homes and yards and families seeking the good life.
