Description
Summary:Each entry consists of a full description, with references, of a particular brooch supported by a photograph or drawing and a series of figures. The discussion is divided into four chapters: an introduction describing the brooches and placing them in their cultural setting; a discussion of the technology behind their manufacture; a classification, accompanied by a discussion of their chronology and distribution; and a conclusion. The writer has not been able to undertake a detailed study of contemporary brooches on the Continent and consequently this work has been approached from a largely insular point of view.
