Description
Summary:Two contracts granted to master paver Pierre Colin fot the maintenance of highways leading from Paris to exurban areas. The first contract, for repairs and repaving of 25 mildes of road connecting Paris to Meaux to the east, was awarded to Colin for a bid of 4820 livres per year for nine years, and the second contract, for 2220 livres, also for nine years, was for repaving, widening, and filling potholes on the 18 miles of road leading to Pontoise to the northwest of Paris. The contracts go into great detail regarding paving materials, road dimensions, maintenance measures, and projected annual progress, and also describes the strange, ritualized bidding process.
