Description
Summary:Propaganda leaflet designed to be dropped by U.S. forces on Japanese troops in the Philippines following victory at the Lingayen Gulf in January 1945. The question mark at the end of the title points to a small circular map of the Lingayen Gulf on the island of Luzon. The photographic image on the recto shows the American Fleet filling the Lingayen Gulf during the invasion in January 1945. The back of the leaflet with heading "Japanese navy" [in translation] contains Japanese text that describe the situation including: "Four days earlier, Japan had already discovered a large US fleet moving north, but the Japanese Navy did almost nothing to counterattack, allowing the US forces to successfully land easily at Lingayen Gulf." "This demonstrates that the Japanese Navy has become completely unreliable. As a result, supply lines are completely cut off, and there is no way for reinforcements to arrive, leading to a situation where you (the soldiers) must fall into a bitter struggle." "While you are facing such an unprecedented crisis, Tokyo radio broadcast that more than 80 Japanese naval officers have died since the start of the Greater East Asia War."
