Description
Abstract:Undergraduate text concentrates on physical processes at Earth's surface in context of global hydrological cycle, environmental change, and fluid and sediment transport. Holistic approach includes oceans. First part deals with global Earth surface system, second with local fluid and sediment dynamics. Introduction to Earth system fundamentals is followed by section on environmental change, examining, e.g., Pleistocene glaciation, Holocene climatic changes and human impact, and section on sediment liberation and flux. Subsequent sections include, e.g., ocean sediment transport, submarine debris flows, and glacial dynamics, erosion and sediment transport.
