|a "The Wiley Handbook of Art Therapy was released in 2016. As indicated in the Editors' initial proposal and its description, the field of art therapy is complex in breadth, depth and scope. Initially the field had two divergent viewpoints: art as therapy, focusing on the process of art making; and art psychotherapy, focusing on the finished created product and relying on the triangulated relationship between therapist, artist, and the artwork. Since these early days, the field has evolved and expanded considerably. Until the release of the Handbook, there was no comprehensive text that captured all aspects of art therapy and addressed the breadth and depth of the field. In the first edition, there were 84 chapters, separated in 9 distinct sections and written by 90 authors. It was soon regarded as the most comprehensive art therapy book in the field. The text provided a unique collection of what was then current and innovative clinical, theoretical and research approaches in the field"-- Provided by publisher.
