Description
Summary:"The First Edition of this textbook was focused on methods of establishing a diagnosis and set of differential diagnoses for oral lesions in veterinary species. That is, the book was primarily designed as a pragmatic tool for veterinary diagnostic pathologists. To this end, we believe that Veterinary Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology ably served its stated purpose. The textbook was also positively received and utilized by a wider audience including veterinary dentists, oral surgeons, clinicians, resident trainees, students, and investigators with an interest in oral diseases. In this Second Edition of Veterinary Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, we have maintained the central focus on diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial disease while also providing information that might be useful to this broader readership. To make the book more clinically relevant, we have added chapters focused on the clinical approach to oral disease in carnivores and a chapter on the clinical approach to oral disease in horses. The overall number of images has been increased and includes diagrams, radiographic/CT imaging, clinical/gross photos, microscopic histology, and images of ancillary assays such as immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy. Literature-based classification of oral lesions has been updated and index cross-referencing has been improved to facilitate the speedy localization of information"-- Provided by publisher.
