Description
Summary:"In 2020 the Clark opened Ground/work, an exhibition of monumental sculpture by six artists situated in the landscape surrounding the museum. Ground/work 2025 once again features commissioned works located throughout the grounds. This time there is a focus on global conceptions of craft: the means by which artists transform the world around them. Each of the six participating artists exemplifies the way that artisanal traditions can be reinvented, generating contemporary form and meaning. Participants are Laura Ellen Bacon, Aboubakar Fofana, Hugh Hayden, Milena Naef, Javier Senosiain, and Akiyama Yo. The hardcover exhibition catalogue will not only serve as a document for the exhibition, but it will also explore larger conversations around craft and making. The publication will feature an essay by curator and volume editor Glenn Adamson framing the exhibition and the texts to follow. Adamson will also write shorter texts focused on each object, diving deeper into each artist's practice and the newly commissioned work. Four additional contributors will write short reflective texts on the Clark's campus at different times of day: morning, afternoon, evening, and night. The catalogue will be beautifully illustrated with photography of each object at these same times of day, further emphasizing the twenty-four-hour presence of the works on the Clark's grounds"-- Provided by publisher.
"A showcase of sculptural works by contemporary artists from around the world"-- Provided by publisher.
