Description
Summary:Online group interviews are an uncommon form of data collection. While there is increasing interest in online data collection techniques in general, the traditional small-group interview is difficult to transpose into an online environment. The lack of non-verbal cues, the inability of the researcher to control the interview environment and ethical questions regarding the identity of participants are some of the issues for data collection. However, they may be chosen for reasons such as access to otherwise unavailable participants, cost, and the opportunity to stimulate recall about past actions and experience by being in that same environment. This dataset exemplar focuses on thematic analysis of text-based, small group, semi-structured, online interview transcripts, collected as part of a multiple-case study into the experience of learners in the virtual world Second Life.
