Description
Summary:This dataset contains reflective notes that the author wrote during her research. These were notes that she wrote regularly during all phases of her research: the first year, id est formulating the research problem and conducting the pilot; the second, id est during fieldwork, and the final, id est the writing-up phase. These were notes the author wrote to herself, sometimes on reading a book or paper, thinking through the research, attempting to sharpen the focus of the research. The reflective notes were written when conducting an ethnographic study on women's experiences post experiencing and registering a complaint of sexual violence. The pilot study was conducted in the UK, and the fieldwork, id est data collection was conducted in Gujarat, India. It was part of a PhD project at the Institute for Health Research, Lancaster University, UK. The entire PhD took about 3 years; the fieldwork lasted for about 8 months (this excludes the Pilot which was done in the first year.). The study led to collection of voluminous data: transcripts in Gujarati, which were translated to English, newspaper articles, grey literature (pamphlets, booklets brought out by NGOs (Non governmental organizations)), amongst others. At the end of it, there were about 10 to 14 box files with papers, audio casettes and other material in the researcher's computer.
