| Summary: | This dataset shows novice researchers how to analyse qualitative interviews by using the method of thematic analysis in a straightforward and simple fashion. The dataset is written by Dr. Jon Swain, who is a Senior Research Officer at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL), and is based on ideas that he uses with undergraduate students who are analysing data for their dissertations. The dataset describes the process of analysis in four stages, using a series of tables, and is based on examples of work from one student, and now co-author, Zhixiu Chen, who investigated the career plans of Chinese students, and what they do in the year immediately after graduation. The basic process can also be applied to students working at Master's level and beyond. |
