Part IV considers the role of writing development and writing instruction in skilled literacy learning. Part V centers on teacher knowledge and professional development as means of ensuring our students are receiving the best possible literacy instruction. The overarching goal of this handbook is to explore the ways in which multiple components interact in the literacy development of students between grades 3 and 8.
