Engraved title page and plates; some of the plates are hand-colored. Vols. X (1779) and XII (1781) contain numerous references to R.B. Sheridan, including either works written by or attributed to him. These include a review of Sheridan's "Critic" at the Drury Lane Theatre (Nov. 1779); an anonymous poem addressed to Sheridan in the Dec. 1779 issue ("To Richard Brinsley Sheridan, Esq.; on his Critic, &c. &c. &c."); a review of Harry Woodward's "Fortunatus, or, The wishing cup" (for which Sheridan wrote two songs, and is said to have added scenes to the revival) in the Supplement for 1779; a review of "Robinson Crusoe, or, Harlequin Friday" (Feb. 1781) and "Airs in the Carnival of Venice" (supplement for 1781). Contains many reprinted essays and numbered columns with an emphasis on literature, fiction, court news, moral and romantic advice, and education.
