| Summary: | Katavi National Park is a remote wilderness in western Tanzania. Here lions, hippos, and crocodiles live more or less in harmony until an unusual climatic cycle transforms the natural dry season into the toughest drought in almost a century, followed by heavy rains. Desperation pushes all these animals to the edge of their endurance, testing their survival skills. From NATURE. Episode 1, Sanctuary: Katavi National Park is a sanctuary for the resident lions, hippos and crocodiles, but six weeks have passed without rain. The buffalo herds that provide an abundance of prey for the lion pride, are late. Bull hippos clash in a fight over territory in a dangerously dwindling river, and in blazing heat, cold-blooded crocs must choose between protecting their eggs or staying cool enough to survive.
