Description
Summary:In the enrapturing realm of theatre, the art of storytelling transcends all boundaries. This book offers a pragmatics-based approach to translating two twentieth-century West Algerian Arabic plays into English. Despite the notable cultural and linguistic disparities between Algerian Arabic and English, my translations endeavour to bridge these divides by emphasising shared human experiences and values, thereby fostering a sense of unity while capturing the essence of Algerian theatrical expressions for an English-speaking audience. Drawing on Michel Garneau's technique of tradaptation (1978), the translations attempt to explore new horizons without compromising the spirit of the original texts.
