| Summary: | This volume presents new insights into the movement of and trade in Greek pottery across the Mediterranean region. It primarily focuses on distribution mechanisms and trade dynamics at a large scale through a series of case studies and synthetic papers, including previously unpublished material. Contributors aim to identify the routes taken by Greek ceramics across the Mediterranean Sea to distant lands and to consider how they were subsequently redistributed. Commercial contexts (ports, shipwrecks and warehouses) are studied with a view to elucidating the dynamics, organization and main drivers of the pottery trade. Case studies cover a diverse range of ceramic types and geographical contexts, from the Iberian Peninsula to Thrace. Finally, the book raises questions for future research. |
