Description
Summary:With the present great versatility of implantology, challenges both clinically and in the laboratory have increased. This book offers solutions for many different implant cases, always from a context of function, hygiene, and esthetics. The first part focuses on occlusion, considering what is fundamental for a good long-term prognosis, not only for the prosthesis, but also for the entire stomatognathic system, including muscles and the TMJ. The central chapters present clinical cases, explaining in each the manufacturing processes that produce good esthetics. The authors present personally-developed techniques. These include: "apparent contours," used in certain cases of lingualized abutments; "cemented abutments in screw-retained prostheses," which provides the security of a completely passive fit; and "try-in of resin models," which provides information on esthetics and on construction of the definitive prosthesis in an early phase, allowing one to try as many variations as one can create, with the certainty that the porcelain and metal will be homogeneously distributed. The last section of the book presents a detailed explanation of the different laboratory protocols for implant-supported prostheses, along with their associated clinical challenges.
