Description
Summary:This How-to Guide describes how a business could apply a model considering multiple conflicting objectives in selection of a source of supply. The context used is selection of a supply chain vendor. Here we present a process to identify criteria of importance for a given decision, a means to develop a hierarchy of these criteria, and a methodology to systematically develop relative criteria weights and performance scores of available alternatives on criteria. A key element of any decision is to generate available alternatives. Here, that is assumed as given. Identification of criteria is also important, demonstrated in the selection context. Methodology for hierarchy development, weight identification, and alternative scoring are demonstrated. The methodology emphasizes trade-offs, which are demonstrated in numerical terms.
