The facsimile title page states that the poem was first printed in 1655 and was reprinted in 1742 with additions. No 1655 printing appears in ESTC. A fuller publication history of "Don, a poem" appeared in The bards of Bon-Accord, 1375-1860 (Aberdeen: Edmond & Spark, 1887), available online. Authorship attributed to Arthur Forbes, born about 1630; the additions perhaps by Alexander Forbes (approximately 1715-1746). See citation below.
