Several of the published poems by "Mabel;" some of which appeared in The Wilkinson Whig, a newspaper published in Woodville, Mississippi, from 1848-1857. Other items from Arthur's Home Gazette, published in Philadelphia, 1850-1855. “The song of the snow spirit” by Mrs. F. H. Cook (on page [31]), published in The Planter’s Advocate, Upper Marlborough, Maryland, January 16, 1856. The nature of the contents suggests that the book was compiled by American women, perhaps a mother and her daughter. |
