Item Description:Map covers portions of France and Germany showing the route of the 493rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion between December 1944 and May 1945. During that six-month period, the unit fought its way across hundreds of miles of enemy territory as part of the 12th Armored Division. Their mission began near Luneville, France and ended on the eve of V-E Day near Holzkirchen.
Several small pictorial vignettes show scenes from combat including burning German tanks, American spotter planes, and bombed-out towns..
