| Abstract: | The purpose of the test reported herein was to assess the performance of a luminaire pole mounted behind a single slope traffic rail according to the safety-performance evaluation guidelines included in the second edition of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) (1). The crash test was performed in accordance with MASH Test 4-12, which includes a 10000S vehicle weighing 22,000 lb impacting the longitudinal barrier upstream of the luminaire pole while traveling at a nominal speed of 56 mi/h and nominal angle of 15 degrees. This report provides details of the Luminaire Pole behind Single Slope Traffic Rail, the crash test and results, and the performance assessment of the Luminaire Pole behind Single Slope Traffic Rail for MASH Test 4-12 evaluation criteria. The Luminaire Pole behind Single Slope Traffic Rail met the performance criteria for MASH Test 4-12. |
