Item Description:	A translation of part 1 of a French version of: Ruscelli, Girolamo. De' secreti del R.D. Alessio Piemontese. Often attributed to Girolamo Ruscelli; but may have in fact been written by Alessio Piemontese. Alessio was considered by some a pseudonym for Girolamo Ruscelli, but there is no evidence for this association. Cf. Ferguson, J. Bib. Chemica, 1906. The statement of responsibility appears after the edition statement. With a table of contents at the ends of parts 1-3. Pagination: Part I: [vi], 117 leaves, [11 leaves (table)] ; Part II: 75 leaves, [3 leaves (table)] ; Part III: [i], 75 leaves, [9 leaves (table)] ; Part IV: [xxxii], 56, 64, 56 pages. Running title of part 1: "The first [- sixt] boke of secretes." Part 2: "The seconde parte of the Secrets of maister Alexis of Piemont" has separate title page, with the same imprint and device but undated. Running title of part 2: "The seconde part of Alexis." Part 3: "The thyrde and last parte of the Secretes" has separate title page, with imprint "by Henry Denham, for John Wyght", and colophon date 1566.
