Since then, the two sides of the strait have been separated, and made military confrontation, political confrontation. During this long period of time, Hong Kong became a transfer station for many Taiwan people returning to the Mainland China. At the end of the 1970s, the cross-strait confrontation that had lasted for more than 30 years also ushered in an opportunity for a historical breakthrough.
