Description
Summary:Epidemiologist Dr. Don Francis has developed gp120, a vaccine he claims can prevent AIDS. Skeptics, including Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health, feel that too little is known about how HIV attacks the immune system to create an effective vaccine. Tests using human volunteers will not be completed until the fall of 2001. In order for the FDA to license the vaccine, it must be shown to prevent HIV from occurring in at least 30 percent of all recipients.
