| Summary: | Warrior Up! is a documentary series that follows Indigenous youth across Turtle Island who are standing up and making change, transforming their communities, their lands and their lives for the better. Episode 8: Algonquin student activist Kyrstin Dumont, age 20, wants to decolonize the fashion industry and redefine it through an Indigenous lens. She got her first big boost of confidence as a teen modeling in shows for Indigenous designers, and now she wants other youth to experience that pride. Host Anna Lambe joins Kyrstin in Ottawa as she shoulders the monumental task of organizing her first fashion show in just three weeks, one that will feature only Indigenous designers and models. Kyrstin shares stories of her difficult adolescence and path to self-acceptance as she gathers sponsors, recruits' models, casts Anna as the show's emcee and readies the venue. They drop by Inuk designer Martha Kyak's studio and borrow some stunning outfits for the big show. And then it's behind-the-scenes madness in the last hours and minutes before the models walk the runway!
