Description
Summary:This beautiful and exciting adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic book tells the tale of fifteen-year-old Davie Balfour, left orphaned and penniless when his father is killed during a storm. Before he dies, Davie's father gives him a dagger and, hinting at dark family secrets, tells him that the only way to survive is to claim his rightful inheritance from an unknown uncle. On his subsequent quest for justice, Davie learns that the world is complicated, heroes are not always what they seem and that the difference between right and wrong is far from black and white. Davie Balfour is orphaned when his father Alexander is killed. Before Alexander dies he tells his son to claim his inheritance from an uncle he has never met. When Davie locates him he finds uncle Ebenezer friendly enough, but as soon as Davie mentions his inheritance, Ebenezer tries to send him to his death. When that fails, he has Davie kidnapped and taken away on a ship headed for slavery in the New World. Amidst a crew of cut-throats and villainous slave traders, Davie feels that all is utterly hopeless. That is, until he meets the notorious swashbuckling Highland hero, Alan Breck.
