Description
Summary:Chef Peter Vaughan wants pupils to cook good quality inexpensive food that they like to eat and share. He goes shopping with pupils from his local secondary school in Wiltshire, The George Ward school. They buy the perfect ingredients for his South American Vegetable Pulao and Caribbean Coleslaw from a local farm shop and small grocer. Back at school they join the rest of their Year 10 class and with Peter and head of food technology Jane Chaffey they start work on their own version of Peter's dish. This is a great opportunity for pupils to experiment and create their own recipes and with Peter's enthusiasm it's a formula that engages pupils at all levels. This is a spicy, zingy pulao full of flavours they haven't tried before and each group creates an exciting dish with wonderful presentation ideas. After tasting in the class they share the pulao outside in the quadrangle where it's a big hit with staff and pupils.
