Description
Summary:Tenor saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin has done more than any other musician to put Turkish jazz on the international map in the past two decades. As well as recording a string of well-received albums which mix the rhythms of his homeland with funk and electronica, he has also collaborated with American and European musicians such as Butch Morris and Erik Truffaz. Furthermore, Ersahin has made the Nublu club a go-to venue in New York. This vibrant session is a timely reminder of his skill as a player as well as producer. He blows hard and heavy in the company of a well-marshaled rhythm section where rumbling drums, percussion and bass bring a hard, primal edge to the music. As well as standing in the lineage of 70s and 80s fusion the songs have a dynamic, danceable character that resonates with the house and Techno generation. Kevin Le Gendre.
