Lake Mead, the largest man-made reservoir in the country, was named after Dr. Elwood Mead, who was the U.S. Reclamation Commissioner when the dam and lake were built. Next we hike through the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area; it is filled with numerous natural wonders, including geological thrust faults, sandstone quarries, desert washes and wooded canyons. |
