Norman Naimark, is a Professor of History at Stanford University, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and an author; two of his books include The Russians in Germany: The History of the Soviet Zone of Occupation, 1945-1949 and Fires of Hatred: Ethnic Cleansing in 20th Century Europe. He specializes in modern East European history, genocide and ethnic cleansing, and in this program examines the psychological and strategic motivations of groups of people whose goal is to exterminate, rather than simply conquer, enemies. |
